SEE OUR SHOWS IN CYPRUS
IN MARCH 2010

Hi Music Lovers

It's nearly time to think Irish! Lock 'O The Irish have added special guest Ian Goodall to their St Patrick's tour. Ian will sing and play guitar, mandolin and bouzouki, adding to the authentic Irish sound.

Popular new band Brothers In Arms make a welcome return to Konia on Thursday 11 March. It was a full house last time so book early! Of course in March we think of St Patrick, so this month we present the Locke 'O The Irish Band, from Ireland, with their special St Patrick's Party in Larnaca, Argaka, Coral Bay, Lania and Omodhos on 16 - 20 March. It's almost a nationwide tour! For the very first time in Cyprus, Andrew Oliver performs his own original songs - A Musical Life at Technocosmos, Paphos on Sunday 28 March. Visit www.starsdinnershow.com for more details and www.goingoutcyprus.com for a comprehensive guide to entertainment and activities throughout Cyprus.

Enjoy!

Many thanks
Andrew

BROTHERS IN ARMS. The only live band on Cyprus dedicated to the music of Mark Knopfler, Brothers in Arms have captured the fiery guitar sound and atmospheric keyboard nuances of Dire Straits. Their show features selections from the eponymous first album through to the platinum selling "Greatest Hits" replicating authentic vocal harmonies and moody lighting. Mark Widdler's clean Stratocaster and hard rocking Les Paul tones contrast with nylon-strung subtlety on slower songs - all with Dire Straits trademark expressive vocals. Bruce Horny's classical training is a huge advantage in coping with the musical and tonal range required to handle 3 keyboards and backing vocals. Hard to believe that despite sounding like an orchestra he only has ONE pair of hands. Hugh J Botham. As an accomplished 6-string gunslinger, the adventurous Dire Straits bass lines hold no terrors for Hugh. Whether wailing like Sting or duetting with Bruce, his vocal harmonies enormously enrich the band's sound. Wick Pithers. Brothers In Arms music calls for a vast range of drum and percussion sounds, provided with aplomb and rare skill by this fine musician and son of Cymru. Whether you're under Private Investigation, on the run from a Sultan with a Switchblade Knife, canoodling in a Tunnel of Love, Calling Elvis while Twisting By The Pool, revising Romeo and Juliet, or simply Relaxing with a Lady Writer who earns Money For Nothing - this show has something for you.

LOCKE O' THE IRISH perform all things Irish! Lesley (violin, harp and vocals) and Tommy (guitar and vocals) were both born in Belfast, N. Ireland and now live in Paphos. They perform Irish jigs, reels and hornpipes, and sing selections of well known Irish Rock and Pop. Music includes Riverdance, Danny Boy, the Fields of Athenry, the Wild Rover and Whiskey in the Jar; and also music by The Corrs, The Cranberries, The Pogues, Van Morrison and U2. Tommy Locke has been one of the busiest and most sought after guitarists in Ireland for the last thirty years. After studying at the Ulster College of Music, he has been heavily involved in a wide range of music with country, rock and jazz bands. He has toured extensively throughout Ireland, Britain, France, America and Canada with Roly Daniels. Lesley Locke studied at Trinity College of Music, London, and has since free-lanced with many major orchestras throughout the UK and Ireland. With the Dennison String Quartet, she has performed and for film, TV and radio, and toured throughout the UK and Ireland with Music Network and Live Music Now! She has made many recordings including the theme music for “Fatal Extraction” and “Field of Bones” and is included in the “Wildlife Album.” Featuring special guest Ian Goodall on vocals, guitar and bouzouki. Ian, in what he calls his "previous existence", has worked as a session musician and recording artiste for the Piccadilly and Columbia labels. His powerful vocals and guitar skills encompass a wide range of genres though his love of Irish music stems from his years in show-bands in the North West of England where he also taught in schools and colleges. Ian's bouzouki and mandolin add yet more Celtic flavours to the music of Locke 'O The Irish.

ANDREW OLIVER, the classically trained pop pianist and vocalist, presents his own original songs: A Musical Life with the singer-songwriter covering such topics as life, love and... fish! Not to be missed. Having studied composition at music college for five years, Andrew went on to receive further instruction from the Godfather of British songwriters: Rat Davies of the Kinks. Pianobar is Andrew’s first love and he continues to tour the hottest, liveliest rock’n’rolling bars worldwide. His piano style is rock/pop and his voice is like Elton John. Andrew talks to his audience and really gets them involved in the show. He has played all over Europe including Norway, the home of up-front pianobar, as well as the dueling pianobars of England. Andrew has also entertained tourists of just about every nationality in the Caribbean and Mediterranean resorts. He really impresses with his fine musicianship and showmanship at the piano together with his infectious sense of humour and energetic personality.
